ABOUT

A MOVEMENT BRINGING SPORT, CONFIDENCE & COMMUNITY BACK TO SCHOOLS

Rookies Club was created to support teachers, strengthen schools, and help kids rediscover the joy of movement. What started as a simple idea — a teacher-led sports program run inside schools — has grown into a national initiative powered by educators, elite athletes and school leaders who believe every child deserves a place to belong.

Rookies Club didn’t begin in a boardroom.

It began on a professional development day in a Sydney primary school, when teacher Steve Pryde was asked a simple question:

“How do we better support the needs of children and families today?”

His answer was Kidfit Club — a before and after-school fitness program that helped kids build confidence, coordination and resilience. Over the next decade, Kidfit grew across schools in Sydney, loved by families, trusted by schools, and led by teachers.

When Steve became a school principal and Kidfit paused during COVID, one insight remained crystal clear:

When teachers lead programs inside their own schools, everyone wins.

Two years later, Steve reconnected with Johnny Timbs, an education and technology founder building platforms used by schools nationwide. Together with Alex Luttringer, a seasoned CTO who has delivered global products for leading brands, they saw an opportunity to transform the Kidfit model into something bigger.

Add in the involvement of elite athletes, school partnerships and a national support framework — and Rookies Club was born.

Today, Rookies empowers teachers to run high-quality, school-based sports programs with full support from Rookies HQ. Kids thrive. Schools strengthen. Teachers earn more doing what they love. And every session helps build confident, resilient young people.

Every Champion starts a rookie.
